About the Farm
Shady Lady Greenhouse and Farm is operated by Bill and Betty Byrne. Our farm is located just west of the intersection of Third Creek Road and North Middlebrok Pike, in an industrial section of Knoxville, Tennessee. The property is known by the locals as the "York- Taylor Place". The house is a civil war era structure and protected by an historic overlay. The farm itself consists of approximately 14 acres. Bill has been farming there since 2001.
Sales
Bill and Betty sell at the "Garden Gate" whenever their Home Grown Vegetable signs are posted on Middlebrook Pike. Look for the popup Tent at the side of the drive.
Bill and Betty also sell through organized markets operated by East Tennessee Farmers' Association for Retail Marketing (FARM Markets) at Laurel Church of Christ, 3457 Kingston Pike (Cherokee Boulevard) on Tuesday and Friday afternoon from 3-6 P. M. from mid April through November. They also offer their produce for sale at FARM markets held at Jackson Square in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on Saturday mornings from 8 A.M. -Noon (mid April through November) and Wednesday afternoon from 3-6 P.M. (mid May through October).

Marketing Year Produce Offerings
Seasonably, the Farm produces several varieties of tomatoes,primarily heirlooms, Several varieties of squash, cucumbers for slicing and pickling, eggplant,several varieties of green beans, chard, lettuce, beets, radishes, spring and fall greens, yellow, red, and green bell peppers. For the new growing season carrots and celery are scheduled to be added to the mix of produce offered for sale. Bill and Betty take particular pride in their broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and cabbages which form the backbone of late season offerings. Potatoes are another popular item to be added.
While expanding their vegetable offerings, Bill and Betty plan to offer flowers, ground cover, and other plants in the near future.
